Client

Driftwood Gin Distillery needed a dual-language e-commerce site that showcased their brand photography, handled Dutch split-payment compliance, and delivered a premium user experience without getting in the way of the product. Their previous platform lacked the performance, visual discipline, and multilingual structure required for international sales.

Challenge

The old site couldn’t support a modern sales journey. Multilingual content was fragile. Checkout flows weren’t compliant. The brand’s strongest visual assets were buried. They needed a system built around speed, clarity, compliance, and a design language that matched the gin’s calibre.

Visual Identity

The bottles were the brand. The photography was the story. Our job was to create UX that gave those assets room to breathe while guiding users through a simple multilingual path to purchase. We took the Illustrator brand files and developed a digital pattern system that shaped layout, rhythm, and interaction without feeling ornamental.

We worked with photographer Matt Wilkinson to capture the bottle, cocktail, and editorial visuals used throughout the site. These images became the backbone of the UX and have since appeared in GQ, Four Magazine, and wider press. The site was built to honour them, not compete with them.

Build

We engineered a fast, dual-language WordPress + WooCommerce build using WPML. Every page was structured around photography-led UX, minimal interface friction, and a clean ecommerce journey optimised for conversion across English and Dutch users. The interface is quiet. The product takes centre stage. The tech does the heavy lifting.

Driftwood gained a scalable multilingual platform, compliant checkout flows, a visually led brand experience, and a UX system that elevates product storytelling without distraction. The site positions Driftwood alongside established premium distilleries and gives them the digital presence their photography deserves.

Delivered through our three-tier WordPress approach — from streamlined Elementor builds to Bricks hybrids and fully bespoke Sage/Roots engineering. This project utilised the bespoke package.

Working with Factory to develop my website has been an absolute pleasure. What I appreciated was the time that she took to listen to my dreams and then suggest something that was practical and suited my needs and my budget. They built a website that can evolve over time, is professional, speedy and easy to navigate around. Thats why I continue to want to work with Andi and the Made by Factory team. Together they make my business better”
